Hikoubou (known as Rankiryu in the anime) is a particularly sadistic instructor to the Otokojuku First-Years. He is most well-known for leading the Forward March in the first chapter of the manga.
Appearance[]
Hikoubou has a distinct goatee and wears a World War II-era fighter pilot's hat, complete with aviator goggles. He also wears a vest, which he leaves open.
In the anime his appearance is changed to that of a monk's, with a purple rosary, a staff, and short black hair. He is also given a darker skin tone.
Personality[]
He is a somewhat sadistic instructor who always uses his position of power to get what he wants.
In the anime, he has a more comical side, constantly worrying about paying the mortgage on his house, in addition to other tremendously hilarious situations.
History[]
Sakigake!! Otokojuku[]
Along with Oni-Hige and Tetsu-Kabuto, Hikoubou went through the daily review of the First Years. After de review, he gave the order to do the Forward March. After destroy several buildings that stood in their way, raise and lower various telephone poles and make a fool of themselves in general, they came to a dirty old shack...which turned out to be Hikoubuo's house, and his wife and son left to greet you. Wanting revenge for the bad time he had put them through, the students, led by Momotaro, charged at Hikoubuo's house.
Hikoubou assisted Edajima Heihachi in his assault on Ratsukyou University. He was also present at various moments, in addition to being the one who let people beat up Togashi during the festival..
During the Daibukai fights, Hikoubou went with Oni-Hige and Tetsu-Kabuto to inform Edajima of the progress of the tournament.
Along with the rest of the Otokojuku students, he stormed Warrior Phantom Castle. And along with Edajima and the other instructors, he was in charge of demolishing much of the castle.

- "Hikoubou" is the Japanese word for "aviator's hat", which refers to his signature item of clothing. "Rankiryu" is the Japanese word for "turbulence".
- In the manga, he has a son, but in the anime has a daughter. Also, in the manga, both his wife and son wear aviator's hat like him.
